These are substantial very vigorous willow cuttings producing long straight rods up to
14′ (4m ) plus per year when established.
Uesd for living structures, hedging, windbreaks, biomass, fuel production ( Firewood / Logs ) soil stabilisation & water filtration etc.
Traditionally used for uprights in hurdle making, robust agricultural baskets & as binders when hedge laying
The most important factor in establishing a new planting is weed control & whatever the size of the cuttings ( grass in this instance is a weed ). Cuttings will always grow faster and establish quicker in weed free conditions.
Planting is smplicity itself. NO DIGGING, simply make a hole in the soil 8-10″ deep with a metal spike and insert the cutting leaving at least 2 buds showing & firm the soil bqack round the cuting with your foot.
